Holly Elaine Haley's Obituary
Holly Elaine Haley was born on December 26, 1958, in Washington, DC. She was the sixth of eight children born to the late Harold Haley and Christine Anderson. She went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 8, 2014.
Holly accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and was baptized at Glendale Baptist Church in Capital Heights, MD. She carried the joy of the Lord in her heart and it radiated through her smile. In her community she was affectionately known as “The Lady with the Big Heart.” This was demonstrated through her advocating for those less fortunate through building awareness and locating community resources for those in need.
Holly was a beloved Sister, Aunt and Niece. She was a firm believer that it took a village to raise a child and she was an active Godparent to many of her nieces and nephews.
Her most memorable accomplishment was graduating from DC Central Kitchen with her Food Handling Certificate. She worked for over 10 years at Giant Food as a Senior Bakery Clerk. She was a Health Right Resource and Community Outreach Worker. She was recently employed at Canon working on site at Deloitte as a Catering/Office Services Clerk.
She enjoyed cooking and poured her love for her family and friends into her food. She could always be found at the grill or in the kitchen at every family gathering and family reunion. She was the life of every party and her smile lit up the room. Most recently this past Memorial Day and 4th of July, she was laughing and cooking and enjoying her time with family and friends.
Holly was preceded in death by her parents, Harold E. Haley and Christine Anderson and her brother Jerry Haley, Sr.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her Life Partner - Tyrone Powers; Siblings: Eric Haley (Marilyn), Ronald Haley, Charlene Hamilton (Bobby), Patricia Hawkins (Richard), Phyllis Frazier-Young (James), Hillary Haley (Stephanie), Lindsay Robinson. Honorary Sibling: Norma Frazier-Yates, Dorothy Boone (Robert). Host of Godchildren, Nieces, Nephews, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Dear Friends and Community.

The family will receive friends for viewing, 1 hour prior to the funeral, from 10 to 11 am Thursday, at the funeral home.
