Howard Ronald Charles' Obituary
HOWARD RONALD CHARLES, 83 of Ashburn, Virginia passed away on Monday, October 7, 2024, Leesburg, Virginia.
Born Wednesday, December 11, 1940, in Gretna, Louisiana, he was the son of the late Howard Charles and the late Dorothy Washington Charles. After graduating from LB Landry Highschool of New Orleans in 1959, Howard spent time at Xavier University before joining the United States Air Force in 1960. After his four years in the military, he held a career of 38 years in Foreign Service. With over 43 combined years of federal service as both an Airman and Career Diplomate, he served in a myriad of positions of responsibility as a Telecommunication Management Specialist in the following countries: Somalia, Ethiopia, Greece, Ghana, Philippines, Nepal, Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Jamaica, and Costa Rica. He culminated his career in the Foreign Service as the Chief of The Operation Division Domestic Branch in 2002. Finally, Howard was a “Die Hard” Commanders (Redskins) fan, who followed his team through thick and thin!
Howard leaves many to cherish his memory including his beloved wife of 54 years, Abeba Yemane Charles, sons, Tedrose H. Charles (Suze) and Howard Charles Jr. (Pamela), sisters, Vada Charles, grandson, Zachary Charles, and granddaughters, Kayla Charles and Markesha Charles. He is preceded in death by his loving brother, Lynn Charles, and sister, Ann Marie Butler.
A visitation will be held at Loudoun Funeral Chapel, 158 Catoctin Cir. SE, Leesburg, VA 20175, on Saturday, October 26, 2024, from 2:00pm to 3:00pm. A funeral Service will follow at 3:00PM at Loudoun Funeral Chapel.
