Hugh Robinson Bumpas Jr's Obituary
Colonel Hugh Robinson Bumpas, Jr., age 84 of Ashburn, Virginia passed away on Thursday, December 20, 2012, at INOVA Loudoun Hospital Center in Lansdowne, Virginia.
Hugh was born Monday, October 29, 1928 in Dallas, Texas and was the son of the late Hugh R. Bumpas and the late Lydia Lewis Bumpas.
He was a graduate of Texas A&M University with a BS in Industrial Engineering. He later received a MS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Oklahoma.
Colonel Bumpas served his country honorably as a United States Marine for 29 years and was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Juliet Pei-Li Bumpas of Ashburn, and his two sons, Geoffrey Hugh Bumpas of Frisco, TX, and Derek Alastair Bumpas of Allen, TX; his sister, Carolyn Dillingham of Harrah, OK, 3 grandchildren, Alexandra Lynn, Kailen Hugh, Christian Kai Bumpas and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 28, 2013 at 11:00 am at the Fort Myer Memorial Chapel, with full military honors.
Interment will follow in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA.
