Jacqueline Lee Levdahl's Obituary
A life of exemplary service and devotion came to a peaceful end on May 2nd when Jacqueline Lee Levdahl (nee Watkins) passed from this world into the loving arms of God. Her long life was spent serving God, her family, and her community.
Born on September 5, 1929 in Johnstown, PA where she spent her formative years, Jackie earned her RN from Allegheny General Hospital (Pittsburgh, PA) in 1953, embarking on a career that lasted more than 40 years. As a nurse she worked in a hospital and pediatrician’s office before moving into pharmaceutical research at Pracon and the Dominion Group.
Jackie met future husband, Lawrence C. Levdahl, when they were coworkers at Anderson Orthopedic Hospital in Arlington, VA. They wed in May 1956.
A member of Immanuel Presbyterian Church in McLean, VA since 1962, Jackie was one of the first women to serve on session in the PCUSA. She was a tireless volunteer leading the Congregational Care Committee, singing in the choir, and as a member of the Christian Education Committee.
In 1965, the family moved to Broad Run Farms where Jackie became a very active member of the community. In addition to being a Girl Scout leader, she participated in the Homeowners Association and led many community activities.
After moving from Broad Run Farms to Lansdowne Woods in 2004, Jackie quickly earned the fond nickname Energizer Bunny from her friends. In addition to spearheading the Activities Committee, she was on the Covenants Committee and dedicated her time to welcoming new residents, helping them get involved and sharing information on local amenities and attractions. She was recognized by her fellow residents for nearly 20 years of volunteer work.
Jackie also dedicated hundreds of hours to serving the Prison Fellowship ministries and to Loudoun Hospital where she assisted in medical records and scheduling appointments for blood donors.
Pre-deceased by her loving husband Larry and granddaughter-in-law Audrey, Jackie is survived by 3 children – Mark (Kay) of Louisville KY, Lisa of Lansdowne VA, and Eric (Sandi) of Savannah GA; 5 grandchildren – Von, Michael, Patrick (fiancé Tiffany), Andrew (Jessica), and Christopher (Catherine); 9 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Memorial donations may be made to Blue Ridge Hospice, Immanuel Presbyterian Church, or Tree of Life Ministries – Leesburg (a ministry to the poor, immigrant, and handicapped population of Loudoun County).
A Service of Remembrance will be held at Immanuel Presbyterian Church in McLean, VA June 10th at 1:00.
