James L. Cannon's Obituary
With a heavy heart we share the passing of JAMES LESLIE CANNON, 72, on Sunday, November 12, 2023, at his home in Leesburg, Virginia.
Born January 27, 1951, in Anchorage Alaska, he was the son of the late Lt. Col. James Cannon and Dorothy Cannon.
Being the son of an Army Air Core member, James has moved multiple times throughout his childhood, spending his high school years in Las Vegas Nevada and then attending and graduating with a B.S in Telecommunications at the University of Las Vegas in 1973.
While in Alaska for telecom work, James then met his wife in 1990 while traveling and then married in 1991.
To further his education he attended Alaska Pacific University and received his MBA in 1998 for Telecommunications Management.
James worked in the telecommunications industry for his entire professional career. Working and developing on the latest technologies at the time, including 4G and 5G.
After retiring in 2021, James continued his interests in the field and focused more on his passion for archaeology.
Throughout his life he enjoyed history. Researching, collecting, traveling to visiting ancient ruins, and museums with artifacts was something he loved doing. Always accompanied by his wife, he traveled to visit historical locations such as the ruins in ancient Rome, Greece, and most recently Petra Jordan.
James always enjoyed a glass of scotch and would share with anyone visiting, especially if they brought their own glass. A good single malt scotch being his favorite.
James is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years; Chiyo, and son, Kane.
A Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday Dec 1st at Union Cemetery. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Leesburg, VA.
