James Emanuel Daye's Obituary
James Emanuel Daye, age 78, of Dumfries, Virginia, was born October 26, 1940 in Leesburg, Virginia to the union of the late Harvey Edgar Daye, Sr. and Ida Virginia Daye Fletcher. He was preceded in death by his brothers Harvey Daye, Jr. (Bubby), William Daye (Rags), John Daye (Johnnie), Charles Daye (Jake), and his sister Shirley Fletcher (Sissy).
Born and raised in Leesburg, Virginia, he was baptized on April 23, 1987 at Providence Baptist Church, Leesburg, Virginia. He passed away on Wednesday, January 9, 2019, at Brookside Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Warrenton, Virginia.
James was a 1962 graduate of Douglass High School where he lettered and excelled in all sports particularly golf, track, football and basketball. He earned the nickname ‘The-Jet’ because of his speed in track and field. He was a member of the Loudoun Douglass Alumni Association where he participated in their annual events. He was married on March 29, 1974 to Kathryn (Smith) White, and was employed by Koons Ford and Battlefield Ford for many years. He loved his children, and especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his children: Kim Roberts, Michelle Smith, David Chinn, James Michael Smith, Alisha Daye, Kristy Daye, Tarah Ward (Kenneth), and Kevin Smith (Lori). Besides his children, James leaves to cherish his memory, five sisters, Isabelle Wood, Martha Hall (Ted), Edith Hughes (Noah), Mary Allen, and Dorothy Daye; thirteen grandchildren, Marcus Roberts, Tia Roberts, Kristopher Terrell Daye, Scott Evans, Jr., Briana Burrows, Corey Christopher, Blake Smith (Deceased), Nikolas Huynh, Gina Huynh, Kaden Williams, Kayla Aforka, Ava Bryant, Lincoln Ward, Zachary Smith (Troyanna), Ashley Suggs (Zachary), and Jamie Smith; four great-grandchildren Kaleyah Roberts, Marcus Roberts, Jr., Koi Suggs and Ruby Smith.
A Memorial service will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, January 18, 2019 at Providence Baptist Church, 205 Church St SE, Leesburg, VA 20175. The Visitation with family will be held from 10:00AM until the time of the service.
