James Paul Holl's Obituary
James (Jim) Paul Holl, age 51, of Fairfax, VA and Raleigh, NC, passed away on Thursday, November 28th, 2013 at Reston Hospital.
Jim was born on February 11th, 1962 in Newton, NJ. He was a son of the late Robert Franklin Holl and the late Natalie Ella Hegaman. Jim grew up in New Jersey, where he attended Moorestown High School. After high school, he attended Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia.
In the 1990s, Jim began his career in the public sector, which spanned three decades. He worked in various roles for the State of North Carolina, working for Governor Jim Hunt from 1993-1996, as well as for the North Carolina Division of Child Development. In 1997, he joined the firm Coopers and Lybrand, in a state and local sales role. In 1998, Coopers and Lybrand merged with Price Waterhouse, and Jim continued in various sales roles, advancing to Sales Director for the State and Local government team. After PricewaterhouseCoopers Consulting was acquired by IBM in 2002, Jim continued to pursue his passion for the public sector, moving into the Federal business in an operations leader role for the Defense team. Over the next ten years, his career with IBM continued to progress, and in 2012, he was promoted to the executive level, as Strategy and Operations Executive for the Global Business Services Public Sector unit. Jim held this position at the time of his passing.
Jim will be remembered for the high professional standard that he set for himself, and for those around him; his relentless commitment to excellence; his unwavering dedication to and compassion for the people on his team; and his passion for the mentoring and coaching of people at all levels. He will be missed by many PwC and IBM employees and executives around the globe.
A memorial service for Jim will be held at 11am on Tuesday, December 17th at the Loudoun Funeral Chapel. A reception will immediately follow the service, also at Loudoun Funeral Chapel.
