I am so sorry to hear that Bob has transitioned to Heaven. Such a shock because we all still think we are in our thirties. I went to Madison with Bob and remember him clearly as the Big Man on Campus...tall handsome athlete! I am sad that he had not been well for some time. I hope his family and close friends find some solace in knowing he is out of pain. Hold memories of him and his smile in your hearts.
My sympathy to the family. Rest in peace Bob.
Web of Life
Every part of the earth is sacred.
Every open plain, every snowy mountain, every wave in the ocean.
We are part of the earth and the earth is part of us.
The rivers are our brothers, they quench our thirst.
The perfumed flowers are our sisters, they bring beauty.
The air is precious, we all share the same breath.
The wind gives our children the spirit of life.
The earth does not belong to us, we belong to the earth.
Like the blood which unites one family, we are all connected.
Our God is the same God, whose compassion is equal for all.
We did not weave the web of life, we are merely a strand in it.
Give thanks for the web and it's circle that connects us.
Bob and I are so sorry to learn of Bob's passing. I met him at JMU where he enjoyed the well deserved and uncontested status of best looking guy on campus. Later, in the 70s, he was stationed with the US Army in Germany at the same time we were, and our small families enjoyed several visits and ski trips together. I'll remember Bob as a fun-loving guy, always with a twinkle in his eye. Rest in Peace, Bob. Our condolences to the family and close friends. - Ellen & Bob Sheppard
My deepest sympathy to the family.
I met Bobby at Loudoun County High. Got to enjoy playing basketball with him then and watching him play. On days we knew there would be an easy practice Bobby, Pitts and I would ride out to my house and sneak a little Manischewitz wine out of my mothers bottle. Then in the early 70's I placed a basketball team in the Loudoun Rec League and we played together in that until 1993. I was also able to stay in touch with him through golf. As our club competed against his. I showed up at his club and we had a team match that day. We got teamed against each other and shared more memories than we worried about golf. WE were suppose to get together within the next couple weeks but his health issues started very soon after we played that day.
When he was recouping in Leesburg I did get to visit him a lot and I am so glad I got to visit him in Warrenton this January before heading south.
He was a good friend and will be missed by many. But remembered by memories and in our hearts forever
See you again one day Old Friend
