James Edward Kelly's Obituary
On March 17, 2022, James E. Kelly died surrounded by his loving family in the beautiful Sterling, VA home he built. He leaves his wife of 61 years, Donna, his two daughters, Beth and Colleen, and three grandchildren, Bel, Bea and Cate. He joins his son-in-law, Bill, in
heaven. Jim can be defined by his love of family, as well as his passion for learning and strong work ethic. Jim proudly served his country as a Naval Officer, ultimately moving into a career focused on anti-terrorism efforts in the national intelligence community.
He worked for many Federal agencies, including Dept of Agriculture, Defense Intelligence Agency and Central Intelligence Agency. He retired in 1997 from the Federal Government, working for several more years as a contractor. Jim never stopped learning new
skills, becoming a Loudoun County Master Gardener and an OLLI student, and publishing a historical fiction novel at the age of 80. Throughout his fight with bladder cancer, his resolve was strong and he fought nobly until the end. He will be dearly missed
by many. A memorial service will be held at 1pm on March 26, 2022 at the Loudoun Funeral Chapel, 158 Catoctin Circle, Leesburg Virginia. Reception to follow. He will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery.
