James Kesler's Obituary
James W. Kesler, 68, of Leesburg, died May 7.
A memorial service will be held Monday, May 19, at 1 p.m. at St. James Episcopal Church in Leesburg.
A 1958 graduate of Phillips Exeter Academy, he graduated from M.I.T. with Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in civil engineering and then spent two years as an Army officer in the Corps of Engineers. For 24 years he was an Operations Officer with the Central Intelligence Agency and, in addition to service at the Agency’s headquarters in Washington, he served foreign tours with his family in Western Europe and the Middle East. After his retirement he spent fourteen years on a part-time contract with the C.I.A., teaching younger officers, doing counterintelligence analysis, and interviewing candidates for employment.
For eleven years he worked as a court magistrate in Leesburg and spent five years as an Emergency Medical Technician with the Loudoun County Volunteer Rescue Squad. He was also involved with the Loudoun County Civil War Round Table and the Loudoun Volunteer Caregivers.
He is survived by his wife Renny of Leesburg; his daughter Nancy and fiancé Gary of Dayton, MD; his son Bob and wife Kimberly of Durham, NC; his son Philippe and wife Jenni of Englewood, CO; his daughter Christine and husband Sean of Round Hill, VA; his brother Walter W. Kesler and wife Maria of Fort Worth, TX; his brother Andrew H. Kesler and wife Gloria of West Hollywood, CA; his nieces Martha Ellen, Virginia, and Georgia; his nephews Andrew and Stefan; and six grandchildren: Jessica, Jimmy, Emma, Jane, Jaden, and Harper.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Loudoun County Volunteer Rescue Squad, 143 Catoctin Circle SE, Leesburg VA, 20175.
