Jim Miller, 98, of Potomac Falls VA, passed away on June 19th, 2017. Jim was born in New Rockford, ND on September 8, 1918 to Hazel and Donald Miller. He spent his youth in Beaverton, OR. After graduating from Beaverton High School, Jim attended Oregon State where he joined the Army Air Corps as a flying cadet. He was stationed in Brazil and China where he was the pilot for the CIA. Later in the Washington DC area Jim had multiple follow-on assignments at Andrews AFB, the Pentagon, and NASA. He retired from the Air Force in 1968 and began his second career with Westinghouse where he worked on one of the moon-landing projects. In the 70’s, Jim began his last and longest career as an independent stockbroker. While his first love was always his family, his love of the stock market followed closely behind. In 2003, after 45 years in Camp Springs, MD, Jim and his wife Rita moved into Falcons Landing.
Jim was predeceased by the love of his life, his wife Rita Clark, of 62 years. He is survived by his two children, KK and Archy, his daughter-in-law Mary, three grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. Col. Miller will be buried at Arlington Cemetery with military honors later this year. A celebration of his amazing life will be held at Falcon’s Landing, Monday June 26th at 2:00 PM. The family asks in lieu of flowers to donate to his favorite charity, So Others May Eat (S.O.M.E.).
