James Pratt's Obituary
JAMES LEWIS PRATT, 72, formerly of Preston County, West Virginia before moving to Lucketts, Virginia in 1961, died peacefully with his family by his side in Leesburg, Virginia on Thursday June 19, 2008. He was born July 25, 1935 in Tunnelton, West Virginia to the late Homer R. and Genevieve Pyles Pratt. Three children and two brothers also predeceased him. Mr. Pratt was a member of the local 1590 union and worked in the construction field as a carpenter supervisor up until his retirement in 1995. He was a hard working, loyal, family man who enjoyed helping anyone. Mr. Pratt enjoyed attending auctions and working on anything mechanical. He was best known for working on Ford trucks and lawn mowers. Mr. Pratt would often make parts for his repair projects when they no longer made the part and some times when they were still available just for the challenge. He was a member of the Worship Center in Leesburg.
Mr. Pratt is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years Mrs. Mildred Marie Wolfe Pratt of Lucketts, VA; six children: James Edwin and wife Bonnie Pratt of Lucketts, Donnie Dean and wife Angela Pratt of Lucketts, Ronda Lynn and husband Ronnie Beeler of Leesburg, Deborah Ann and husband Robert Behm of Harpers Ferry, WV, Nona Lee Oshman Reynolds and Husband Kevin of Lovettsville, VA, Ricky Dwayne and wife Susan Pratt of Harpers Ferry, WV; three sisters; four brothers; 24 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and two very close extended family members, Billy Curry and Eleanor Tillet Marshall.
Friends may call on Monday June 23, 2008 from 2-4 and 6-9pm at the Worship Center 19227 Gleedsville Road, Leesburg where services will follow on Tuesday at 11:00am with Pastor Joseph C. Adams officiating. On Wednesday June 25, 2008 friends may call at the Browning Funeral Home in Kingwood, WV from 11am until time of services at noon. Interment will be in the Pratt Family Cemetery, Newburg, WV.
