Thanks to my husband Doug, I had the privilege of meeting Jimmy and experiencing both his heart and humor. Never lacking a kind word or an interesting perspective, he made the world large and accessible. I'm glad he was a part of our family.
Jimmy was the contact given to me when I moved to Virginia. I looked into his car before getting in and thought Willie Nelson was picking me up. That started a 15 year friendship that few men have the privilege to experience. Jimmy wasn't in AA, he WAS AA. He was and still is a big part of my life. Out of sight but Never out of mind.
Kind, caring love for everyone was the aura that surrounded Jimmy V. He took my Dad to summer concerts at the Courthouse when he became wheelchair bound 2008-2009. Nothing but good memories of Jimmy V. He made people stronger through his love, wisdom, dedication and support.
Sweet, loving friend, who selflessly helped so many people suffering from addiction find hope and healing. Bye Bye for now my friend.
