Janice Louise Mann's Obituary
Janice's journey began on May 27, 1932, in El Paso, Texas, where she was born to Hattie Mae and William Pendergrass. Growing up as the third oldest among four siblings, she attended Douglas High School in El Paso. Following her graduation, she met Charles Wesley Mann, an esteemed first-class airman in the United States Air Force, and they got married on March 6, 1954. Together, they had eight children, including twins.
In her early years as a mother, Janice dedicated herself to being a full-time stay-at-home mom during the baby-boom era. As her children grew older, she joined the workforce, holding various jobs for the State of California, including data entry at Signal Army Depot in Sacramento. After relocating to Virginia, she continued working, this time at the Pentagon in Arlington.
Described as elegant, witty, and classy, Janice had a passion for fashion and was known for her tidy nature. She took pleasure in playing Bid Whist and Poker, but her favorite card game was Blackjack, often spending weekends in Reno, Nevada, at the Cal Neva Club. Additionally, she had a love for music, amassing an extensive collection of albums, CDs, and tapes. Cooking was another one of Janice's passions, and she particularly enjoyed making gumbo. After moving to Virginia, she became a member of Christ Fellowship Church, and she joined the Mosaic Harmony Community Choir where she sang for several years.
Janice is proceeded in death by her husband Charles Mann, parents William and Hattie Pendergrass, brother Clarence Pendergrass, sisters Doris Chandler and Mae Britton and her grandson Charles Wesley Mann. Her memory will be cherished through her children, Dr. Michael Mann (Joann), of Pleasanton, CA, Donald Mann (Valerie), of Oklahoma City, OK, Phyllis Mann of Austin, TX, Phillip Mann (Remy) of Martinsburg, WV, Becky Grooms (Michael), of San Pablo, CA, Charles Mann (Tyrena) of Ashburn, VA, Sandra Mann of Accokeek, MD, Walter Mann (Cecelia) of Corona, CA.
