Janice "Jan" Lee Hannahs' Obituary
Janice “Jan” Lee Hannahs, 66, of Leesburg, died peacefully in her home from cancer Sunday, January 20, 2008.
Mrs. Hannahs was born October 31, 1941 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Georgianna Warner. Her daughter, Kimberly Beth Hannahs and a sister, Joylyn Fountain, also predeceased her.
She spent her entire life giving to the needs of others. She was known for her interests in local Loudoun civic groups. In the 1970’s she served on the Board of Directors and organized The Salvation Army Toy Stores for Loudoun. She also worked for many years with the Loudoun Association of Retarded Citizens (LARC) and Blossom and Bloom where she served on the Board of Directors for both organizations. Presently she worked with Interfaith Relief on a weekly basis fulfilling the needs of Loudoun’s hungry.
In addition to volunteering for most of her life, she worked for The Piano Company of Leesburg for over 20 years.
She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Roland S. Hannahs, her daughter and son-in-law Joylyn Hannahs and Edward Riccobene of Hamilton. She is also survived by her two greatest joys--grandchildren, Georgia and Nolan Riccobene.
Friends may call at the Loudoun Funeral Chapel, 158 Catoctin Cr. SE Leesburg, VA on Thursday, January 24 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. Funeral services will be held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 605 West Market St. Leesburg on Friday, January 25, 2008 at 10am. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery Leesburg.
