Jayla Nichele Roberts' Obituary
In loving remembrance of a woman who gave love so freely. Jayla Nichele Roberts passed away on May 6th, 2026 in Richmond Virginia at 29 years old.
She was born on February 11th, 1997, in Silver Spring, Maryland but spent the majority of her life living in Woodbridge, Virginia. She attended school in the Prince William Public School, graduating from Woodbridge High School. She went on to graduating with her Bachelors of Arts from Old Dominion University and later moved to Richmond, Virginia, where she enjoyed taking walks to Belle Isle, grabbing coffee from her favorite cafes, and popping into thrift stores as she navigated a majority of her 20s. Jayla had a passion for travel, visiting countries such as Costa Rica, Mexico, South Korea, and elsewhere across the states.
She also enjoyed fashion, jazz, live music and concerts, and researching her many eclectic interests. Jayla’s life - while far too short, leaves a tremendous impact on each of those who knew, and to know her was to love her dearly. Jayla accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at her mother's church Ebenezer Baptist Church in Woodbridge, VA. At her request she was baptized again by her uncle, Pastor Harold S. Stinger at First Mount Olive Baptist Church Leesburg, Va November 2023.
She is survived by her parents, Constance House and John Roberts, her siblings, Janae, Johnny, Jataia, Jonte, Janiya, and Jaevon, her stepbrothers, Jalen and Trey, and her bonus mom, Nytasha. She leaves behind a large extended family of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great aunts, great uncles, an abundance of cousins, close friends, and all those whose lives she touched to cherish precious memories with her.
Her viewing will be held on Sunday, May 24th, 2026 at 1pm at the First Mount Olive Baptist Church located at 216 Loudoun Street, SW Leesburg, Virginia, 20175.
Celebration of Life services will follow at 2pm, with the Reverend Harold S. Stinger officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Jayla’s memory to the Hawthorne Cancer Foundation.
