Jean F. Daniel's Obituary
Jean “Jeanne” Fontana Daniel, 79, of Alexandria, passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2014.
She was born June 7, 1934 in Pittsburgh, PA and relocated to Washington D.C. shortly thereafter. She was the daughter of the late Ernest Joseph Fontana and the late Stella Regina DeMarco. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Colonel (AF Ret.) James Edwards Daniel Jr. and her sister June Brandenburg.
Jean’s life was dedicated to being a loving and caring Wife, Mother and Sister. She retired after a full career as a Financial Analyst with the DoD, retiring in 1999. She enjoyed cooking for her family, spending time with her children and grandchildren, visiting her beach home in Delaware, and following the Washington Redskins.
She is survived by her children, Jerry Daniel of Alexandria, VA, Joseph Daniel and his wife, Martha of Potomac Falls, VA, James Daniel and his wife, Amy of Broadlands, VA; her sister, Joann Burke of Bishopville, MD; and grandchildren Sydney, Jake, Natalie, Benjamin, Joseph and Tyler.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 PM and 7 – 9 PM Thursday, June 5, 2014 at Loudoun Funeral Chapel.
A funeral mass will be held at 4:30 PM on Friday, June 6, 2014 at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church. Burial will take place at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Wounded Warrior Project.
