Jeannette Scott Thornton's Obituary
Jeannette Scott Thornton, 86, of Leesburg, passed away Monday, January 21, 2013 at her residence.
She was born on October 1, 1926 in Loudoun County to the late Clarence H. Scott and Louise Scott. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her late husband, Golden Thornton who passed in May of 1998.
She was a member of the Mt.Pleasant Baptist Church in Aldie, VA, where she was previously a choir member, Sunday school teacher, and the clerk.
She is survived by her three children, Robert Thornton of Leesburg, Lillian Smith of Leesburg, and Timothy Thornton of Leesburg, VA; her son-in-law Charles E. Smith, Jr of Winchester, and a brother, Reverend Dr. William Scott of Fredericksburg, VA; 3 grandchildren, Andrea Smith, Leslye Wallace, and Charles Smith; 2 great-grandchildren, Deon and Kaelynn Wallace; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Loudoun Funeral Chapel with Reverend Dr. Harold Stinger officiating. Burial will follow at Olive Branch Baptist Church Cemetery in Haymarket, VA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations may be made to the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation.
