Jeffrey Lynn "Poke" Brown's Obituary
Jeffrey Lynn “Poke” Brown’s soul left his earthly body on November 10 to join mother Ethel Brown, brother Russell “Rusty” Brown, sister Victoria “Dolly” Butler, daughter Barby Brown, niece Stacey Baker and a host of family and friends that passed on before him.
Poke, born November 5, 1957, spent most of his life in Waterford, Virginia. Poke, aptly named, could always be counted on to get projects done on “Poke Time”. He would spend much time contemplating on how to do a project while sitting by the wood stove, drinking a beer and listening to blue grass music at “The Farm”. Poke, despite his gruff exterior, would always welcome family and friends, young and old to join him, where he would always have a story to share – sometimes true, sometimes not. Woodworking, refinishing furniture and fishing were amongst Poke’s many hobbies.
Poke is survived by his father Russell “Pops” Brown, brother Keith “Skeeter” Brown, granddaughter Lacey Jones, grandson Braeden Kerns, niece Jennifer Baker, nephews Tim Baker and Christopher Brown, beloved cat Amos and many family members and friends.
A FaceBook GoFundMe account has been set-up to help the family with expenses, it is: “In Memory of Poke Brown”
