Just learned a good friend of mine passed away early March. Back in 2018 at Stafford regional Airport, the Collings foundation had their wings of freedom tour event there and brought several WW2 bombers and a fighter. I got the family treatment since I knew some people and got to tour the aircraft. Spend the entire day crawling around in 909 the B-17 (RIP 2019), B-25 Tondelayo, B-24 Witchcraft and TF-51D Toulouse Nuts. As I was looking at Witchcraft, these 2 gentlemen, Michael and Jeff, approached me and we started chatting about the aircraft. They went on to say their father was a gunner on the B-24. Got to hear some absolutely amazing stories and then was asked if I would you like to go fly in Witchcraft, I said absolutely but I can't afford it. $400 ticket. They had a cancellation,a family member couldn't make it and the ticket is yours if you want it, only thing we ask is you to record the flight for my brother and I. I said I can absolutely do that. 30 minute flight on witchcraft, my first ever warbird flight was like a dream. Wish I could honestly relive that. I've been keeping in touch with them since that day. Fly high Jeff. Was an absolute pleasure and honor meeting you and your brother. I'm devastated that you are gone. Blue sky's and tailwinds buddy. I will miss you. If it wasn't for you and your brother, idk if I'd be working with warbirds today. You guys played a big role in me busting my butt in getting my foot into the door of the warbird community. Forever thankful.
