Jesse Preston Ambers Sr.'s Obituary
JESSE PRESTON AMBERS, SR., 79, a life long resident of Loudoun County, died at his home peacefully in Leesburg on Friday, December 05, 2008. Mr. Ambers was born March 13, 1929 in Leesburg to the late Charles Franklin and Myrtle C. Pollard Ambers. A sister, Martha Stokes also predeceased him. He attended Loudoun County Public Schools and served his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Army. Mr. Ambers was a Sky Cap at Dulles International Airport for almost 40 years before his illness led him to retire in March 2008. He was a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher at the Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Lincoln, Virginia.
Mr. Ambers is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years: Mrs. Alleen C. Ambers of Leesburg; four children: Betty L. Furr of Winchester, Virginia, Jesse P. Ambers Jr. of Sterling, Virginia, Anthony J. Ambers of Richmond, Virginia, Clifton F. Ambers of Winchester; five sisters: Mamie Hall of New York, Lena Ambers of Leesburg, Viola Gohlston of Washington, DC, Christine Anderson of Washington, DC, Grace Anderson of Maryland; four brothers: Herman Ambers of Paeonian Springs, Virginia, Charles Ambers Jr. of Leesburg, Raymond Ambers of Maryland, Joseph Ambers of Leesburg; eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and a host of other relatives and friends.
Friends may call on Wednesday, December 10, 2008 from 7-9pm at the Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Lincoln. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Thursday December 11, 2008 at First Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 216 Loudoun Street in Leesburg with Rev. E. Gregory Claytor officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery in Lincoln.
