Joan Mae King's Obituary
Joan Mae King, 83 of Ashby Ponds, formerly of Lake of the Woods, Virginia, entered into eternal life on Monday, February 11, 2019.
Born Joan Mae Irvin, on December 22, 1935 in Washington, DC., she was the daughter of the late Paul Irvin and the late Nina Didawick Irvin. She grew up in Arlington, Virginia, was a graduate of Washington & Lee High School, and Washington School for Secretaries. Joan was married to her husband Charles A. King, who predeceased her, for 60 years. Joan and Charles lived for many years in Vienna, Virginia, where they raised their children, before retiring to Lake of the Woods. Joan leaves her family to cherish her memory including her son, Chuck King and daughter-in-law Gayle King, of Leesburg, VA, daughter, Sharon King Lyon and son-in-law Robert Lyon of Columbia, MD; grandchildren Joshua and Carina King, Holly and Russell East, Allison King, Marie Lyon and Brett Thomas, and Anastasia Lyon and three great grandchildren, Julian, Mia and Benjamin King.
A memorial service to celebrate Joan's life at Farmwell Hall Chapel at Ashby Ponds, 44734 Audubon Square, Ashburn, VA 20147, on February 25, 2019 at 11 am.
A reception immediately following the service in the Reception Hall (Great Oak) from 12 to 2.
Interment will be held privately by the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to American Cancer Society 124 Park Street, SE, Vienna, VA 22180, Or to the Orange County (Virginia) Humane Society.
