Col. John McKellar Ansley's Obituary
Born in Portland Oregon in 1915, Col. John Ansley went home to be with the Lord on December 11, 2013.
John was a devoted husband and father. He is survived by his loving wife Ilse, three daughters; Nancy, Diana, and Monica, and son Greg. He had nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Col. Ansley spent 30 years as an Army Corp of Engineer Officer with duty assignments in England during WWII, Japan, The Pentagon, Greenland, The Air Force Academy, and a number of posts in the United States. He earned several prestigious awards including two Bronze Stars for Exemplary Service. Col Ansley earned his Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering from Harvard University in 1948.
After his years in the military, Col Ansley spent eight years as Assistant Director of Engineering and Construction for the Washington Metro. Col and Mrs. Ansley moved to Falcon’s Landing in Sterling, VA from Lake Oswego, OR.
