John D. Byram Jr.'s Obituary
On Tuesday, August 15, 2023, beloved father John Daniel Byram Jr., affectionately known to everyone he met as Johnny or PaPa, passed away at the age of 85. He was born in Stafford, Virginia, to the late John Daniel and Edith America (Fritter) Byram on January 25, 1938. Johnny grew up in Fredericksburg, Virginia, having been a life-long resident until moving to Round Hill, Virginia, upon his retirement. Johnny served in the United States Army from 1961 to 1963 and thereafter worked in the trucking industry. Johnny was a die-hard NASCAR and Washington Nationals and Redskins fan. His favorite pastimes were fishing and camping.
Johnny was preceded in death by his loving wife, Veronica Jewell Byram (Rollins) and sister Shelby Jean Frantum. He is survived by his two children, John Byram III (Traci) and Tammy McGaha (David); four grandchildren, Heather Byram, John Byram IV, David McGaha Jr. (Jessica), and Crystal McGaha; one great-grandchild, Dustin Byram; brother Charles Byram and sister Debra Burgess; and his ever-faithful canine companion, Suzie.
Johnny was blessed with the kindest and most giving sole with a warm, sunny disposition and a ready smile for everyone he met. He was fun-loving and could tell a joke or spin a yarn like no other. His laughter was infectious. Life is all about doing the little things well, Johnny’s wisdom and simple acts of caring made an everlasting impression on all who knew him. He sought no recognition other than the joy of knowing that another’s life might have been made a little bit easier, a little bit better.
Respecting Johnny’s wishes, there will be no funeral services.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date.
