John Davidson's Obituary
MAJ. JOHN DAVIDSON, 81, on Monday, March 23, 2009 in Lansdowne, Virginia. Mr. Davidson was born February 4, 1928 in Valley Cottage, New York, to the late Morison Davidson and Emilie Gerlach Davidson. He graduated from Parks College of Aeronautical Engineering at St Louis University and served in the United States Air Force for 26 years, retiring in 1970. Mr. Davidson served 15 months in Vietnam and was last assigned to the Pentagon. He pursued a second career in financial planning. He owned a General Business Services, Inc., franchise in Alexandria, Virginia for 25 years. Mr. Davidson retired in 1996 to the Air Force Retired Officers Community, Falcons Landing, in Sterling, Virginia. Mr. Davidson was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Scottish Rite in Bakersfield, California. He was a past president of the Mount Vernon Rotary International and a member of Mt. Vernon-Lee Chamber of Commerce. He resided in Alexandria for over 30 years and was a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Wellington.
Mr. Davidson is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Sara Cole Davidson ; four children, Jennifer Davidson of Ames, IA, John Davidson of Destin, FL, Bruce Davidson of Trieste, Italy, and Julia Hood of Port Orange, FL. He has one sister, Jean D. Wolff of Yarmouthport, MA, 11 grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.
Friends may call at the Loudoun Funeral Chapel, 158 Catoctin Circle SE, Leesburg, VA on Friday, March 27 from 7-9pm. A memorial service will follow at noon on Saturday, March 28 at Falcons Landing Chapel, Falcons Landing Circle, Sterling. Graveside services with full military honors will be held at 1pm on Monday June 22, 2009 at Arlington National Cemetery.
