JOHN "JD" DOROZYNSKI

We are deeply saddened by the loss of John ‘JD’ Dorozynski who passed peacefully into the arms of Our Lord and reunited with his parents Julian and Madeline Dorozynski on June 27, 2025, at 7:14pm. John was a devoted spouse, father, bonus father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. John was born in Utica, New York on September 23, 1960, to the late Julian and Madeline (Cirasuolo) Dorozynski and raised in Yorkville, New York. He is survived by his wife Wendy; his three children, Lauren (Lanard Pack), Justin, and Lyndsey, and bonus children, Jordan, Ryan, and Madison Smith. John was a 1979 graduate of New York Mills Jr. Sr. High School. John was a carpenter by trade. He was an extremely talented and sought after contractor in both New York and the DC metro area (DC, MD, VA). John could not see a building or structure without acknowledging what needed to be fixed, how beautiful it was, or how the architect even built it that way. John was very proud of his parents and his Polish/Italian heritage, he told stories to anyone who would listen about the years of his youth. Stories ranged wildly and proudly from being dropped by two unnamed siblings while they were swinging him, to getting banned from Canada on a boating adventure! He was always the center of attention. He loved entertaining and bringing smiles and laughter to all those he came across. John was always sporting an Alabama Crimson Tide hat, and would talk to anyone he saw wearing that script A. He was always the loudest in the room and you would hear him before you would see him. We all have experienced how much John loved doing things for people. If you told him, you were in search of an item you wished to purchase, John would find it and purchase it within hours! If there was wheeling and dealing to be done to get it, even better. He lived for the challenge of the hunt! Truly, he would drive all along the East Coast to make sure you got it. ‘The Boss’ as his friends affectionately called him, never allowed a quiet moment to go by. He loved catching up with everyone and didn’t waste a single moment of a car ride, speed dialing a family member or friend to fill every minute of the drive trying to catch up with them. There was even a network of them (you know who you are) who would talk daily about the local weather in your locations when that could have been easily checked on your smart phones :-)! Don’t even get him started on conversations about all the houses he built or the awards and magazines he was in. Those stories could have taken months! John was a dedicated father, supporting his children and bonus children at all costs. John was always there for his children, and he took great pride in being a father. John spent Lyndsey’s softball years behind the home plate fence yelling “you’re due, Lynds,” or coaching Justin’s baseball teams. He never missed a game. Unless you count that time he got ejected from Justin’s game for challenging calls. It was a constant argument between John and the kids about who was the loudest. John and Wendy created the ‘Virginia Brady Bunch’ on March 14th, 2013. He loved watching all the kids as they were growing up and the events they participated in. Most notably, the countless hours they spent on softball fields while the girls were in high school then the subsequent road trips up and down 81 to visit the girls in college (‘Roll Tide’)!!! Recently were the adventures they were creating to have those same experiences with their grandchildren! Let’s talk about his adventurous side! Big game hunting all over the United States and in Africa! Lake Boating which grew into Bay Boating (though he much preferred to leave the boat docked and just hang out on it for days on end). The kids always joked that when he said he and Wendy were going to the Bay for the afternoon, they knew they wouldn’t see them for at least 2 days. Motorcycles, Snowmobiling, RVing (though he didn’t like to drive it). To hear more search for the song ‘12 Years to Eternity’ on Spotify! It’s their song! Each of us have countless loving memories to cherish of the off the chart stories to share about the adventures we have all had with John. We will cherish forever his unwavering conviction to family and friends. John is survived by his loving children: Lauren Dorozynski (Lanard Pack), Justin Dorozynski; and Lyndsey Dorozynski. His Spouse: Wendy Balcom His bonus children: Jordan, Ryan and Madison Smith of Leesburg, VA. Grandchildren: Lincoln, Landon, and Lillianne Pack; His siblings: Mary Currie of Marcy, Tom (Patti) Dorozynski of RedHook, NY, Sue Kane of West Grove, PA, Janet (Donald) Wroblicki, Sr. of Yorkville, NY, and Juliann Dorozynski-Essafi of Yorkville, NY. Along with 16 nieces and nephews, 14 great-nieces and nephews and 2 great-great nieces! And we can’t forget his beloved dogs: Yankee, Riley, Casper and Elliott and Grand-Dogs: Willie, Jake, Lexy, Charlie, Jett, Joey John was predeceased by his parents, his brothers-in-law Bob Kane, Stephen Currie and Melvin Bearden. Nephews (Godson) Michael John Dorozynski, Stephen Smith and most recently by his great-nephew Douglas Smith. For my children Lauren, Justin, Lyndsey, Jordan, Ryan and Madison, my heart overflows with love for each of you. Wendy, from your guiding light, “love you to eternity with love. You have given me all.” Much appreciation to brother Tom and his love Wendy for helping to complete his work commitments. Mass will be held on July 11, 2025, at 2 pm at St. John The Apostle Catholic Church. There will be a Celebration of Life afterwards at the Lansdowne on the Potomac clubhouse located at 43459 Riverpoint Drive Lansdowne, VA 20176 from 4-7pm. At a later date, John will be laid to rest next to his mother and father at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, in Whitestown, NY, where he will return to the arms of Our Father and his loving parents. In lieu of flowers please consider The ASPCA and help protect pets in need in John’s memory. If anyone was the epitome of the Tim McGraw song ‘Live Like You Were Dying’ it would be John! His over-the-top personality, his drive for adventure, and his thirst for excitement allowed him to lead a full rich life albeit unfairly cut short. He leaves us with a legacy of love and dedication to family whether blood or not! We will miss you dearly!
