Another good friend that I knew for 65 of his 73 years has passed away to young. We played dodge ball in grade school , pickup baseball at the firemans field and basketball and baseball at the elementary school on North street. Then to little league baseball. In high school we played jv and varsity basketball He was so quick in basketball and competitive. I can still see him getting right in the faces of people that were a lot bigger.
After basketball practices he would always invite to his house for dinner. Mrs Frye always seemed to have enough left for whoever was there to eat Then all the double dating using my Dad's little TR 10 and then the 59 Ford. Fun times
The competitiveness didn't stop with him with just sports. When he worked at A&P and I was at IGA we both butchered. When chicken sales were going that week he wanted me to keep count how many we could cut into parts in a certain time. Then we would meet up after work and compare. I never won. After I got out of the Army in 69 he got me into a townhouse on Valley View Ave. We had 5 families in a row and all good friends with Bill Lambert, Kelly, Jimmy Wright, Roger Lanham and myself. During good weather we played wiffle ball and a lot of poker. Winter months he had me join him on the Mighty MIdget bowling team. Then as the families grew and moved to different homes you didn't see each other so much but you still remain good friends and in touch
At times like this you always kick yourself for not staying in touch as much as you should have but you always think there is another tomorrow.
On this Thanksgiving day one of my thanks is having known Kelly and having him as a good friend for so many years
My condolences go out to Nancy and all the family
Kelly I hope you enjoy your next journey and one day we will see each other again
