JOHN HENRY IRVIN
Ironworker and VDOT employee, Lovettsville
John H. Irvin, 72, of Lovettsville, Virginia (formerly of Great Falls, Virginia) died Saturday May 20, 2006 at Heritage Hall Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Leesburg. Born on January 5, 1934 in Wythe County, Virginia, John was the son of the late Henry Stuart Irvin and the late Mary “Bertie” Irvin.
Mr. Irvin served in the US National Guard, worked as a structural steel worker with Ironworkers Local Union #5 in Washington DC and retired from VDOT.
Mr. Irvin was a lifetime member of the Lovettsville Game Protective Association, a member of the Herndon Masonic Lodge #54 and a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Lovettsville.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy C. Irvin; two daughters, Rhonda I. Boatwright of Charles Town, WV and Patricia I. Tracy of Lovettsville. Mr. Irvin has two grandchildren, Clinton W. Boatwright and J. Patrick Tracy along with two great-grandchildren, Caleb Formalls and Alaya Boatwright. Mr. Irvin was predeceased by two children Sonja G. Irvin in l951 and Lawrence H. Irvin in l954.
Mr. Irvins’ funeral service was held at the New Jerusalem Lutheran Church with Rev. G. Andreas Armstrong officiating, on May 23, 2006. Graveside services and interment were held at National Memorial Gardens on May 24, 2006.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mr. Irvin’s memory to the Lovettsville Volunteer Fire and Rescue, P.O. Box 123, Lovettsville, VA 20180 or to Bethel Lutheran Church on Tankersville Road, P.O. Box 307, Lovettsville, VA 20180. Arrangements were by Loudoun Funeral Chapel, Lovettsville, VA.
