As I sat watching tv, my thoughts turned to an old friend from VWC. I looked for him on the internet and was saddened to see, John had passed. We were scrubs for one season at VWC and traveled to William & Mary on weekends to party a little with Jimmy’s frat. Condolences to his family.

They broke the mold when John was born. A soft spoken guy, always had time to stop and chat with you, and a great family man. I enjoyed the times that John and I called rec basketball and high school basketball games. I know John is still watching over the family.
I was so fortunate to know John as a roommate and teammate at VWC. He was always a positive person and well liked by all. Sad to say that I lost track of him after college but I did have the chance to interview his daughter years later for a teaching position in Chesapeake. My prayers go out to Patti and his wonderful children.

It is really sad to hear this news. I got to know John as a kid, watched him play sports and got to play golf with him. His Aunt Helen Simpson and mother Ruth Laycock were my teachers. He was a great guy and will be missed.
