John Mohay's Obituary
Mr. John George Mohay of Lansdowne Woods, VA, passed on Saturday, February 27, 2016.
He was a son of the late John Mohay and the late Clara Groesch Mohay. He was also predeceased by his sister Eleanor J. Shantz.
John attended the University of Notre Dame and graduated from Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service. He served his country in the US Navy during WWII.
After graduation, he went to work for the National Meat Association in 1955, becoming its president in the late 1960s. He was instrumental in passing legislation on meat labeling and import-export regulations of meat products.
He was a devoted husband for 67 years of Gwendolyn Chambers Mohay, father to five sons, John William, Mark, Kurt, Karl and Matthew Stuart and two daughters, Nina Claire and Therese Marie; grandfather to 12, Alicia, Brian, Mark, Mary, Miles, Gwen and John, Kyle and Brittany, Justin, Jacklyn, and Luke; and great grandfather to five Nxy, Pablo, Coral, Evelyn and Scarlett.
A funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 AM Thursday, March 3, 2016 at St. Theresa Catholic Church 21371 St. Theresa Lane Ashburn, Virginia 20147.
Graveside services and Interment will begin at 1pm on Thursday, March 3, 2016, at Quantico National Cemetery, 18424 Joplin Road Triangle, VA 22172.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to American Cancer Society 124 Park Street, SE, Vienna, VA 22180.
