John J. Verban's Obituary
John J. Verban, 94, of Potomac Falls, VA, passed away on Friday, August 28, 2015.
He was born on July 13, 1921 in Plymouth, PA. He was the son of the late John Wojewodzki and Alexandra Domanski. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Irene Verban. He is survived by his two sons, John D. Verban of Woodbury, MN, and Gary Verban and his daughter-in-law, Cheryl Fuchs, of Great Falls, VA, and his granddaughter, Jessica Verban.
After high school, John enlisted in the Army Air Corps and served north of London, Great Britain, during World War II. After returning from his deployment in Europe, John earned his degree in Business Management at Wilkes University and subsequently worked for the Department of the Navy and the General Services Administration. He retired from the U.S. Air Force as a full colonel after completing his service in the Air Force Reserve. During retirement, John helped establish the Falcons Landing Chapel Program, where he was a resident from May of 1996 until his death. John enjoyed traveling, exercising, and reading; and was known for his friendliness, sense of humor, his ‘expertise’ on Washington politics, love of sports (especially the Dallas Cowboys), and his concern for others.
Funeral services at Arlington National Cemetery are currently pending at this time.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society and the Wounded Warrior Project.
