John Henry Smith's Obituary
John Henry Smith 72, life long resident of Loudoun County, died on Saturday, May 22, 2010. Mr. Smith was born in Purcellville, Virginia on November 6, 1937, to Nathaniel and Josephine Smith. He was predeceased by his parents and three siblings: James and Carl Smith and Helen Hughes.
Mr. Smith is survived by his beloved wife of 27 years: Gloria Smith of Leesburg and a loving daughter: Omega Smith of Ashburn, VA and five step children. Mr. Smith is also survived by his older siblings: a brother: Charles Smith of Purcellville; two sisters: Elizabeth Jackson and Margaret Green both of Purcellville, and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Mr. Smith was a hardworking family man who enjoyed a 25 year career with Simpson Construction. He was a devoted husband and father. As a young man, Mr. Smith played baseball in the third base position. He also coached boy’s baseball for the Purcellville Athletic Club. Over the years, Mr. Smith never lost his love of the game. His favorite past times included fishing, all sports—especially watching the REDSKINS play, spending time with his family and friends and making them laugh. Mr. Smith attended the Leesburg congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Paeonian Springs, Virginia.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 5, 2010, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 17104 Bridge View Court, Paeonian Springs, VA 20129. Interment will be private at a later date.
