John Richard "Dick" Poole's Obituary
John Richard Poole, “Dick,” 75, on Wednesday, May 28, 2008, at his home in Leesburg, VA. Mr. Poole was born on August 12, 1932, in Herndon, VA. He was the second to youngest of thirteen children, a son of the late Ross Harvey Poole and the late Effie May Trammell Poole. His first wife Anne W. Poole also predeceased him in 1985. Dick served his country in the US Navy during the Korean War. He retired from the Fairfax County Police Department in 1976. Since 1976, Dick was the Owner and Operator of Dicks Muffler and Automotive in Leesburg until his retirement in 2005.
Dick is survived by his wife of 21 years, Shirley Lee Poole of Leesburg; three children: John R. “Rick” and wife Janna Poole, Blountville, TN, Robert L. and wife “Linda” Poole of Leesburg, Terri L. husband “Farley” Gordon of Oklahoma; three step-children: Mark and wife Rana Kirk of Hamilton, VA, Lisa Kirk of Leesburg, and Blane Kirk of Leesburg. He is also survived by nine grandchildren: Ashley Poole, Lindsay Poole, Jessica Poole, Jason Poole, Kevin Gordon, James Gordon, Jordan Kirk, Taryn Kirk, and Amber Kirk.
Friends may call on Friday, May 30, 2008 from 6 to 9 pm at the Loudoun Funeral Chapel, 158 Catoctin Circle, SE, Leesburg, VA 20175.
Funeral services will follow at the funeral home on Saturday, May 31, 2008 at 2:00 pm.
Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Leesburg, VA.
