Jon Saunders Wijnand's Obituary
Jon Saunders Wijnand, 42, of Leesburg since 2007, died on Monday , October 29th 2012 in Leesburg. Jon was born July 23rd 1970 in Medan, Indonesia to the late Elizabeth S. Wijnand-Green and Mr. Jan Wijnand. Jon grew up in Indonesia, Australia, and then Fairfax, Virginia. He received his B.S. Degree in Aviation Administration from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida with the class of 1992. He was a war history buff, enjoyed running and fishing and throughout his life had a passion for airplanes. Jon was a diehard Redskins fan, but above all, he was a loving husband to Sharon and a devoted father to Jon.
Jon is survived by his beloved wife of 7 years: Sharon Lehnhard Wijnand of Leesburg; his son: Jon Russell Wijnand of Leesburg; his father: Jan Wijnand and his wife Ursula Alebrand of Hobe Sound, Florida; three sisters: Nicole (and Rick) Kirk of Shelton, CT, Pietanella (and Greg) West of Leesburg; Carin (and Brent) Robertson of Queensland, Australia; nine nephews, two nieces and a host of other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 4th 2012 at 1:00 pm at Loudoun Funeral Chapel, 158 Catoctin Cr. SE in Leesburg with Rev. Jim Burch officiating. Interment will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, Sharon is requesting donations be made towards Jon Russell Wijnand’s college fund. Contributions may be mailed to 606 North St. NE, Leesburg, VA 20176.
