Joseph Clayton Brothers' Obituary
Mr. Joseph Clayton Brothers, age 53 of Leesburg, Virginia passed away on August 29, 2012.
Joe was born on January 17, 1959 in Marion, IL. He was a son of the late Benton Howard Brothers, and the late Amanda Jean Perritt Brothers.
Joe served as the Senior Enterprise Resource Planning Advisor to the Army Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics (G-4). He was responsible for advising the Army's most senior leaders on the effective and efficient implementation of Army software and processes for managing its business operations, a multi-billion dollar set of projects that are collectively the largest and most complex business software projects in the world. Joe brought commercial best practices into the Army's enterprise projects, saving taxpayers millions of dollars per year and delivering Soldiers the essential capabilities necessary to get their jobs done with speed and precision.
Joe also served on the Board of Directors of Applied Visual Sciences, Inc., as well as the Chairman of its Audit Committee. The company is a software technology company that designs and develops imaging informatics solutions for aviation/homeland security and healthcare. The Company’s two product lines are offered through two operating subsidiaries: Guardian Technologies International, Inc. for aviation/homeland security products and Signature Mapping Medical Sciences, Inc., for healthcare. The Company recently established a new entity; Instasis Imaging, Inc.; for the development, marketing, and sales of a suite of imaging analytic applications for the automated detection of breast cancer.
Joe received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from the University of Arizona, and a Master of Science Degree in Management from the Krannert Graduate School of Management at Purdue University. Joe was also a certified public accountant.
He is survived by his wife Linda S. Brothers, two sons, Clayton and Alexander; sister Melissa (Bob) Nieberding of Hilton Head, SC; brother Michael (Jane) Brothers of Niantic, CT; sister-in-law Carrie Brothers of Golden, CO. He was preceded in death by brother Matthew Brothers of Golden, CO.
Services will be held at Ashburn Presbyterian Church, 20962 Ashburn Road, Ashburn, VA 20147 on Saturday, September 8th at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project or Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
