Joseph (Joe) Edward Breinig passed away peacefully with his family at his bedside on June 27, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Joe was born in Romney WV on June 6, 1946, and was the son of the late James Carter Breinig Read Obituary
It was my please to work with Joe at Broad Run High School and at Loudoun Valley High School. He always put his students first - encouraging them and providing support in their academic and athletic efforts. He was a team player always willing to work with other teachers, coaches, and administrators to make his school a first class place for students to learn and grow. He will be missed.
I regret not having the opportunity to thank Mr Breinig for the tremendous impact he made on my life and career he was a wonderful advocate and encouragement for me as a runner at Loudoun County High School urging me to work hard and beat the school record in the mile, which I did in 1981 and I still hold that record today. He stood trackside at every meet cheering me on. He allowed me to work with him as one of his assistants and instilled in me a love of all things sports. When I later became a lawyer, I gravitated to a specialty in sports law and represented top players in the NBA and the NFL. That work led to being named a Best Lawyer in America in the field of sports law for many years. I don’t think he had any idea of how much he influenced my path. I am forever grateful!
I remember him from Broad Run. Mr Breinig was always trying to get me to join the soft ball team. After graduating I would see him in a store and I would say hi Coach. Remembered like it was yesterday. He would say oh the girl that would play soft ball lol. He was a sweet and likable coach and always wish I had of joined. My condolences to his family and friend he will be solely missed by all. Rest easy Joe.
The Trittipoe family (Nancy, Ben & Jessica) sends our condolences to the Breinig family on the sad loss of Joe Sr. He was a great supporter of all students, athletes or not, at Loudoun County & Briar Woods, and wherever he worked in his career. He truly cared about the students. We became closer friends while I worked summers at County while going to college & he eventually trusted me to mow his "precious" football field. He always had a kind word when we saw each other in my post-college days as a sports writer. Mr. B will be sorely missed and will always be a Raider in our hearts!

Mr Breinig was such a wonderful father figure and leader at LCHS for many years. Whether you played sports or not, he was always kind and had a great sense of humor. I can honestly say they don't make them like him anymore! The legacy he left behind with all the students lives he touched is a testament to his life. O God, our source of all comfort, we come to You with heavy hearts. Please be our source of strength during this season of mourning. Wrap Your loving care around this grieving family and fill them with the hope of eternal life through Christ Jesus. Amen
