Joseph Jones, Sr.'s Obituary
Joseph Monroe Jones, Sr., 73, a life long resident of Arcola, Virginia died at home with his family by his side on Sunday February 14th 2010. Mr. Jones was born February 5th 1937 in Arcola to the late William Joseph and Lucy Negley Jones. He is a Loudoun County High graduate. Mr. Jones served his country in the United States Air Force. He was a mechanic with the United States Postal Service. He worked in the Merrifield office before Sterling. Mr. Jones was quite the musician. He loved to sing, play the guitar, banjo and the harmonica. He played in a band with of other members of his family for years. Mr. Jones enjoyed music, woodworking, gardening and the outdoors.
Mr. Jones is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years Gloria M. Jones of Arcola; three children: Carolyn and Dude Moxley of Lovettsville, VA, Joseph and Kathleen Jones Jr. of Winchester, VA, Diane and Kenneth Alkire of Gainesville, VA; eight grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Friends may call on Wednesday, February 17, 2010 from 6-8pm at the Loudoun Funeral Chapel, 158 Catoctin Cr. SE, Leesburg, VA. Graveside services will follow Thursday February 18th at 11:00am in Union Cemetery, Leesburg.
