I worked with Joe at NYCRR. Joe was always flickering his cigar like Hollywood stars do. Then when he quit smoking, he always had a straw or piece of wood in his mouth to chew on. He would always be singing ..."Trouble, oh we got trouble, Right here in River City! With a capital "T" or old songs, broadway songs, Sinatra, etc..
He would always be
teasing the customers and making light of things, singing, joking, entertaining...always got the customer to laugh and forget about their troubles. I remember his special tiger eye Ruby ring he wore. It was a special ruby only found in NC..from his mining he made it into a ring. He was energetic, always happy, upbeat, great humor, full of life and personality, had a "can do" attitude, he would always make me smile and laugh. He did enjoy life! He will be greatly missed and I know his family is missing him. He was a precious GEM!!! One of a kind! It was my pleasure and joy and privilege to know you! God Bless you Joe and your family!! RIP! (What a beautiful picture! Beaming smile like I remember him!)##imported-begin##Doreen Ash##imported-end##
