Joyce Jeanne Ambers' Obituary
Joyce Jeanne Ambers, 77 of Leesburg, Virginia passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2014.
Miss Joyce was born Tuesday, July 13, 1937 in Leesburg, Virginia. She was a daughter of the late Robert Wesley Ambers, Sr. and the late Patricia Blanche Cornelia Ann Beard Ambers.
Joyce was raised in Loudoun, but lived for a short time in CT, when she took a position as a Nanny, then she moved to DC in the 1960’s, when she began working with the Federal Government. She worked with the Department of Agriculture for 36 years, until retiring in 1995 as the Director of Personnel.
Miss Joyce will be remembered as a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, caregiver and friend. She loved traveling, shopping, gardening, and cooking for family and friends. Years ago she was a Troop Leader in the Girl Scouts.
She leaves to cherish her memory her only daughter, Tracy Lynn Ambers of Leesburg, VA, brothers, Arnold Ambers of Dumfries, VA and Patrick W. Ambers of Leesburg, VA, her granddaughter and devoted caregiver Breeona Ambers of Leesburg, and grandson, Trevon Smith-Ambers. She is also survived by 5 nieces, Rochelle Nelson, Kelleen Ambers Johnson, Denise Ambers Reynolds, Joy Ambers, and Michelle Ambers, and one nephew, Arnold L. H. Ambers, Jr. , and a host of other cousins, family and friends.
Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 4, 2014 at Loudoun Funeral Chapel located at 158 Catoctin Circle, SE Leesburg, Virginia 20175. The family will receive friends prior to the funeral, from 10 to 11 am at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery, Lucketts, VA.
