OBITUARY INFORMATION
JUDY ELLISTON COUGHLIN, 64, died on Monday, September 26, 2011. Judy was born April 8, 1947 in Washington, DC to the late Thomas R. and Lucy Burney Elliston. She received her B.A. from George Washington University in 1969. Judy moved to Loudoun County in 1971, where she lived in Aldie and Leesburg.
Judy is survived by her children: Matt Coughlin (Kim) of Leesburg, Moira Holdren (Jay) of Richmond, VA; three siblings: Lynn Elliston, Margaret Smiraglia, Tom Elliston; five grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Judy loved books and reading and was able to pursue these interests through her career in publishing, as well as her volunteer service on the Rust Library Advisory Board and her appointment to the Loudoun Libraries Board of Trustees. Judy was on the board of Mainstream Loudoun and was a key player in a successful suit to block trustees from censoring use of the internet in libraries.
A memorial service will be held at 1PM on Sunday, October 2nd 2011 at the Loudoun Funeral Chapel, 158 Catoctin Cr. SE in Leesburg. Private interment will be in Leesburg Union Cemetery at a later date.
