Karen Diane Triplett of Leesburg, VA passed away peacefully at home on the evening of September 5, 2016 due to complications from pancreatic cancer.
Karen was born on February 24, 1955 at Ramey Air Force Base in Puerto Rico. She was the youngest daughter of the late Mary Lona Pierce and Charles Davis Pierce. Her father’s Air Force career brought her to the Northern Virginia area in 1959. Over the years she lived in Arlington, Springfield, Dale City, and for the past 25 years, Leesburg.
Karen is survived by her loving husband of 43 years Dean Kevin Triplett and her two beloved children, Ian Patrick Triplett of Leesburg and Mary Colleen Cataneo, and husband Ty, of Richmond, VA.
Karen graduated from Annandale High School, in Annandale, VA and received her B.S. (Management) from National Louis University.
Until her illness, Karen had been a Principal at SRA International, in Fairfax, VA. Her most recent position there was as the test manager for a large software system. Prior to joining SRA in 2004, Karen had been a test manager for Handysoft Global. Previous to that, she spent many years as an independent consultant specializing in software testing, quality assurance, and process improvement.
Karen was an avid reader, lover of animals, and “doer of good deeds.” She lived a loving and caring life, touching everyone she came across. For many years she volunteered at the DC Cental Kitchen and the Embry Rucker Community Shelter in Reston.
In addition to her husband and children, Karen is survived by her sister, Sharon Bowen of Berryville, VA and husband Dorsey, and a host of other family and friends.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2016 from 2-4pm at Loudoun Funeral Chapel, 158 Catoctin Circle SE, Leesburg, VA. In lieu of flowers please send donations to your local animal shelter or go adopt an animal.
