Kathleen Louise Umbaugh Potts' Obituary
Kathleen Louise Umbaugh Potts, 97, well-known lifetime resident of Loudoun County,
VA, passed away on May 7, 2025, at Green Valley Commons Assisted Living in
Winchester, VA. Family members and friends were by her side, as well as volunteers
and nurses from Blue Ridge Hospice Services. In earlier years, Kathleen was an
award-winning salesperson for the Electrolux Company and was known for her friendly
and helpful demeanor as she sold countless vacuum cleaners all around the state.
Born in Lucketts VA in 1927, Kathleen lived and worked in Loudoun County her entire
life. She was the daughter of Maude and Wade Umbaugh and was the second of four
daughters. She married Robert Lee Potts of Lovettsville in 1946, and they settled in the
Taylorstown area of Loudoun County. They were blessed with two sons, Robert
Lawrence {Pamela E.) and Dennis Lee (Pamela A.), four grandchildren and five
great-grandchildren. Kathleen will always be remembered for her caring, nurturing and
generous nature as well as her amazing holiday family tables laden with delicious food,
including her incomparable and legendary macaroni and cheese.
Kathleen was pre-deceased by her son, Dennis, her husband, Lee, and her older sister, Helen. She is
survived by two sisters, Alma Mae Baker of Leesburg and Joan Simpson (Steve) of
Purcellville, her son Robert Lawrence (Larry), granddaughters Carin Potts, Lacey
Groves, Jennifer Traina (Blake) and Lora Lee Lentz (Chris), five great-grandchildren, and numerous extended family members.
Services will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at 12 noon, at Mt. Pleasant Church in Taylorstown, VA.
Visitation will be held prior the the service on Tuesday at the church from 10am to 12 pm.
Interment will be held at New Jerusalem Church Cemetery in Lovettsville, VA.
Following the burial service, luncheon will be served at Mt. Pleasant Church.
Donations may be made in Kathleen's memory to Blue Ridge Hospice.
