Katie Doris "Dottie" Travers' Obituary
KATIE DORIS “DOTTIE” TRAVERS, 76, of Leisure World in Lansdowne, Virginia since 2003, formerly of Arlington, VA, died on Friday, January 2, 2009 in Lansdowne. Mrs. Travers was born August 23, 1932 in Cedar Creek, Alabama to the late Lumas C. and Velma Robinson Worrell. During the 1970’s and 80’s she had a floral business, Dottie Travers Floral Designs. She contracted to provide arrangements for weddings and various events with several military bases including Quantico, Ft. Myer and Ft. Belvoir. Mrs. Travers was an active member of The Chapel at Leisure World. She was also active in the bible study group and had been a member of the Magnolias activities committee at Leisure World. Mrs. Travers will be remembered as a very caring woman and loving grandmother.
Mrs. Travers is survived by her beloved husband of 50 years, Robert John Travers of Lansdowne; two children: Robert Michael Travers of Asheville, NC, and Susan Elizabeth Page (David) of Broadlands, VA; three sisters: Louise Jernigan, Jean McDonald, and Judy Singley (John); two brothers: Connie Worrell and Joe Worrell; four grandsons: Daniel, Steven, and Matthew Page, and Michael Travers, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Friends may call at the Loudoun Funeral Chapel, 158 Catoctin Cr. SE, Leesburg, VA on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 from 6-8pm. Services will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at the Galilee United Methodist Church, 45425 Winding Road, Sterling, VA with Pastor Matt Sergent officiating. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery, Leesburg, VA.
