Kendall Lane Shomaker's Obituary
Kendall Lane Shomaker, Sr. 61, of Conway, SC, formerly of Leesburg, VA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 after a long battle with colon cancer.
Born in Frederick, MD, he was the son of the late Donald Shomaker and Doris Elaine Shomaker. Kendall was a longtime resident of Loudoun County and seemingly knew everyone, wherever he went. He was an auto mechanic for 40 years and worked for Texico for the first 25 years and the last 16 years he worked side by side with his brother at a family run shop in Leesburg. There wasn’t a car he couldn’t fix. He was a car enthusiast to his core and had a passion for old hot rods. Once we moved to the Myrtle Beach area, he joined the local car club and enjoyed taking his 68 C10 Pickup to all the car shows and hops. He was the first one to lend a hand to anyone and was the envy of all the neighbors with his beautiful lawn. Kendall’s family was the most important thing to him. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who will be missed by his family and friends.
Kendall is survived by his wife of 28 years, Robin Shomaker of Conway, SC; four children, Kendall Shomaker II (Stacey) of Middletown, VA, James Shomaker of Bethany Beach, DE, Kara Shomaker of Myrtle Beach, SC and Taylor Shomaker of Lexington, SC; eight grandchildren, Keara, Skyler, Sage, Serenity, Kayleigh, Kendall III (Bug), Avah and Ethan; a brother, Kevin Shomaker of Leesburg, VA; three sisters, Kathy Craft (Richard) of Centreville, VA, Kristi Snider (Joey) of Marshall, VA and Vicki Fowler (Bob) of Morgantown, WV and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at Loudoun Funeral Chapel in Leesburg, VA on Sunday, June 9, 2024. Visitation will be held from 11 am to 1 pm with services immediately following the visitation. Following the service, we will have a celebration of life at The Loudoun Kitchen and Bar. Kendall was a jeans and t-shirt guy, so please feel free to come as you are.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the family to help them get through this trying time.
