I grew up thinking Uncle Ken was the most handsome and smartest man in the world. I love how he always took the time to answer my letters, even when I was just a kid. I proudly carry on his love for language and the written word, which he also shared with his brother, my dad Don Shaffer. I am so glad I got to visit with Uncle Ken not so long ago. He had a sparkle in his eye and he was quick to laugh, and that is how I will remember him. Much love to Auntie Elaine, Karen and Lance, as well as all of the rest of the extended family who knew and loved Ken V. Shaffer.
