Kristen Anne Federmeier's Obituary
Kristen Anne Federmeier, a devoted wife, mother, teacher, and woman of profound faith, passed away on 05/12/2026 at the age of 46 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on May 11th 1980 on Mother’s day to John Murray and Ada Murray, Kristen grew up with a heart oriented toward service and a spirit filled with joy. She carried this light into her marriage to her beloved husband, Geoff, whom she married at the age of 21. Over their 24 years of marriage, they built a life centered on their shared faith, navigating every season of life with a deep commitment to one another and to God.
A dedicated educator, Kristen homeschooled their 4 children for many years and then spent the last several years teaching middle school mathematics at St. John the Evangelist in Warrenton.
To her, the classroom was more than a place of instruction; it was a mission field where she sought to bring the love of God and a sense of joy to every student who walked through her door. She had a unique gift for seeing the potential in every child and worked tirelessly to ensure they felt valued and capable.
Kristen also was humbled to serve as the chair on the Bishop of Arlington’s pastoral council where she advocated for inclusion of people with special needs within Catholic education. This was an intense passion of hers, and she was thrilled and honored to be able to be part of such an important initiative.
Above all, Kristen was a mother. She poured her life into her four children: Evelyn, 21; Henry, 19; Elijah, 15; and Luke,13. Her children were her greatest pride, and she modeled for them a life of resilience, prayer, and unconditional love.
Even in the face of illness, Kristen remained a pillar of strength. Guided by her faith, she offered all her pain, suffering, joys, and sorrows as a sacrifice for her family, friends, and neighbors. Her life was a testament to the belief that even in the darkest moments, hope and grace are ever-present.
She is survived by her husband, Geoff; her four children, Evelyn, Henry, Eli, and Luke; her parents, John and Ada Murray; and her brother, Adam.
A visitation and rosary will be held on 05/19/2026 at 4PM at Corpus Christi Church in Aldie, VA followed by mass at 4:30PM. Kristen will then be transported to Illinois where a funeral mass and rite of Christian burial will be performed.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Catholic Newman Center at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, a place where Kristen and Geoff found each other and a fire for their faith.
