Landon Agustus Ambers' Obituary
Landon Agustus Ambers, 77, of Winchester, VA, passed away on Friday, August 15, 2014 at Winchester Medical Center.
Born on January 11, 1937 in Loudoun County he was the son of the late Mamie Ambers. In addition to his mother he was preceded in death by his wife Joyce Carter Ambers, companion, Barbara Spindle and stepson, Richard L. Carter.
Landon was raised in Loudoun County by his grandparents, Charles and Myrtle Ambers. Landon served his country from 1955 until 1959 in the U.S. Navy. He then worked for Forecast Furniture until they closed, but continued restoring and making furniture in his spare time. He retired from Abex in Winchester after 35 years of service in 2000. In his younger years, Landon enjoyed fishing and hunting and more recently embraced his love for the outdoors by keeping a beautiful garden and tending to his flowers. Landon loved to sit under his tree every day, watching and feed the birds and squirrels. He also enjoyed cooking for his family. Landon was baptized at an early age and recently attended Living Water United Brethren Church, Winchester VA.
He is survived by his lifetime friend and companion, Juanita Everhart, her husband Bernard and her children, James Lamar Tate III, Charles Albert Augustus Tate, Landon Christopher Everhart and Myla Sierra Amber Everhart; step-son, Brian and his wife, Susan; grandchildren, Lindsay Carter, Lauren Carter, Michael Carter, Robert Landon Carter, Rosanne Evans, Derek Carter and Keiana Carter; numerous great-grandchildren; sister, Diane; brother, Dennis; three aunts; three uncles; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at Loudoun Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
