Laura Majestic Holder's Obituary
Laura Majestic Holder died suddenly and unexpectedly on October 10, 2018 in Ashburn, VA at the age of 49.
Laura was born July 24, 1969 in Kansas City, MO to Martin Xavier Majestic, Jr. and Sharon Baskett Majestic. Laura was raised in Alexandria, LA where she attended Alexandria Senior High School and was involved in her school dance team, choir, Y-Teens, and the First United Methodist Church Youth Group. Laura graduated in 1991 from the University of Colorado in Boulder with a bachelor’s degree of communications. At CU, Laura was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta and was sorority rush chairman and later the university’s Panhellenic rush chairman.
Laura worked in retail management after graduation in Cincinnati, OH and Bloomington, IN. In Bloomington, she met her future husband, Christopher Holder, through family connections; they were married October 11, 1997 in Sacramento, California. Their life and careers together moved them to Dallas, TX, San Jose, CA, Reno, NV and Ashburn, VA. Laura loved traveling with family and most of all loved spending summers in Crested Butte, Colorado. Laura began her career as a corporate sales recruiter in 1998 and continued working in that profession thru 2018 with Culver Careers, ADP and Brookdale Senior Living. She was passionate in her profession about helping others build their careers.
Laura was a light, a love, and full of life to all who knew her. Laura was a wonderful wife, daughter, sister and friend. Laura was a fixture in her community and will be remembered for her warm smile that greeted others while walking her dogs. Most of all, Laura thrived and loved being a mother, and she was exuberant about seeing her sons grow and develop. She will be sadly missed by all.
Laura is survived by her husband, Christopher, and sons, Sam and Luke, all of Ashburn; her mother Sharon Majestic of Granite Bay, CA; brother Scott Majestic and sister-in-law Diane Majestic of Greensboro, NC and their three children Matt, Chris and Ally; sister Katy Scherr and brother-in-law Jim Scherr of Reno, NV and their two children, Alexis Marek and Tyler; sister-in-law Heather Holder of Prairie Village, KS; in-laws Don and Carolyn Holder of Leawood, KS; and the many friends throughout her life and across the country that she touched so deeply. She was preceded in death by her father, Martin Xavier Majestic, Jr.
A memorial service will be held for Laura on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St David’s Episcopal Church, 43600 Russell Branch Parkway, Ashburn, VA.
