Lawrence Joseph Zendek's Obituary
LAWRENCE JOSEPH ZENDEK, 81 of Leesburg, Virginia passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at his home.
Born Wednesday, July 22, 1942 to the late Joseph and Irene Zendek in Philipsburg, PA.
After graduating from his high school in Coalport, PA, we went to work for the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Larry discovered he had a knack for restoring cars, with his favorite restorations being a red and white 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air (for which he won many car show trophies) and multiple mid-year (1965-1967) Chevrolet Stingray Corvettes. In 1989, Larry soon found his retirement location and moved to Lucketts. Larry finally retired from the FBI after 33 years where he would begin his next career as a Lucketts farmer. He was not your typical farmer with getting up at the crack of dawn to begin working… NOPE… He’d sleep in and enjoy his breakfast and coffee first, then go out and about to check his fence lines to make sure his cows were secured. Other passions of Larry were his lawn – he would cut it every day if he could – and driving around Lucketts using his Kubota UTV. He waved to everyone with some endearingly calling him the unofficial Mayor of Lucketts.
Larry is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, JULIANA (Rebar) ZENDEK, and his children and grandchildren: Laura (Zendek) Rogers (son-in-law: Donald Rogers) grandchildren Donny Rogers and Dale Rogers. David Zendek (daughter-in-law: Wendy Zendek) grandchildren Megan (Zendek) Dotson (husband Matt), and Garrett Zendek. Karen (Zendek) Ranger (son-in-law: Keith Ranger) grandchildren Brendan Cazenas and Ethan Ranger.
A visitation will be held on May 7, 2024, at Loudoun Funeral Chapel beginning at 11:30 with a 2:00PM church service following at Saint John the Apostle Catholic Church (101 Oakcrest Manor Dr NE, Leesburg, VA 20176) and the interment will be held at St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Leesburg, VA.
