Lela Irene Carruthers' Obituary
Lela Irene Hutchison Carruthers passed away May 16, 2021. Born Jan. 15, 1932 in Warnock, OH, she was preceded in death by her parents Wilson Hutchison and Martha Gay, husband Kenneth Carruthers, 6 brothers and 3 sisters. She is survived by one brother (Gene), son Kent (Heidi), daughter Kelley Cristofano (Tor), 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Lela was a 1950 graduate of New Concord H.S. She moved to the Akron area where she worked for Goodyear Bank. She married Thanksgiving Day 1955, to Kenneth Carruthers of Newcomerstown. Later as a homemaker, she also used her banking experience as bookkeeper in family businesses. Her dedication to family, and work ethic derived from depression experiences, enabled her to be a substantial contributor to the family.
A graveside service for Lela and Kenneth will be officiated by Rev. Lisa Kropinak, Pastor of the United Methodist Church in Pleasant Hills Cemetery, New Concord, Ohio, at 11:00 a.m. July 31st.
A celebration of their lives will follow at Theo’s Restaurant, 632 Wheeling Ave, Cambridge at 12:30 p.m.
